Canadian Liberals appoint Trump-hater from Nova Scotia to diplomat job in Boston

Canada has a new diplomat in Boston, and he seems to be suffering from Trump derangement syndrome!

François-Philippe Champagne, minister of foreign affairs, appointed Rodger Cuzner to be the Consul General in Boston, replacing the outgoing David Alward.

Cuzner is a former six-time Liberal MP for Cape Breton-Canso.

CBC Nova Scotia reports:

Cuzner served as parliamentary secretary to former prime minister Jean Chrétien in 2003. He has also served as chair of the Nova Scotia caucus and party whip.

In 2019, he announced that he would not seek re-election, telling reporters he was "tired and cranky."

Cuzner worked in the private sector as senior adviser at Rubicon Strategy in Ottawa prior to the new appointment.

A lifelong Liberal getting a patronage appointment and hopping back on the Trudeau gravy train with biscuit wheels is hardly news, it happens almost every day.

However, I have news about Cuzner you won’t see in the mainstream media.

He is supposed to work to advance Canada’s interests in the United States as a diplomat, but he has said some rather undiplomatic things about President Donald Trump.

Don’t take my word for it. Take Cuzner’s!

In 2016, he tweeted that “Trump is a dirty old man” and linked to a Huffington Post article that wrote “Donald Trump's vulgar words reveal a vulgar character...Donald Trump trumpets the fact that he can sexually assault women and get away with it because he's a “star.”

But recall that Cuzner’s two-role boss, Justin Trudeau, groped a woman at a B.C. music festival and then said that had he known she was a reporter, he would not have done it.

In 2019, still as a sitting Liberal MP, Cuzner sent a tweet applauding the Trump fact-checking work of Daniel Dale, the journalist who made a name for himself harassing Rob Ford at his home.

They keep a great check on the number of times Trump lies, has anyone tried to track how often he uses 'we’ll see what happens'?

The Liberals appear to be hedging their bets that Joe Biden is going to win the American election next week by appointing Cuzner to this key post, and they'd better hope they are right.

If they aren't, this Trump-hating diplomat may not be warmly received by a second-term Trump administration.
