Dr. Roger Hodkinson tells Edmonton’s City Council to end COVID restrictions, masks
Dr. Roger Hodkinson told an Edmonton City Council Committee meeting that he was “absolutely outraged” at the continuation of COVID measures like mandated masks, social distancing and testing.
During a Community and Public Services Committee meeting earlier this week, audio of which is available online, Dr. Hodkinson, a virologist, tore into “utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians”.
Some of the doctor's comments were reported by Western Standard Online:
“This is not Ebola. It’s not SARS. It’s politics playing medicine. And that’s a very dangerous game.”
“Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence based on their effectiveness whatsoever. Seeing these people walking around like lemmings obeying without any knowledge…putting the masks on.”
Hodkinson said social distancing is also “useless” because the virus can travel up to 30 m before landing.
Further, Dr. Hodkinson recommended giving residents of long term care homes daily doses of Vitamin D and blamed business closures for a recent spate of suicides.
