US President Donald Trump has brokered an historic peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates in an unprecedented, if little-publicized move that goes against the mainstream media’s narrative of Trump as a “warmonger.”

Trump announced on Twitter: “HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and United Arab Emirates!”

Leaders from the three countries published a joint statement on the agreement, stating that it is a major step towards securing long-lasting peace in the Middle East.

The statement clarifies that Israel and the UAE, which have long been at odds, will begin extensive cooperation on coronavirus vaccine research. The two nations will also start negotiations on investment, tourism, and trade.

The Trump Administration is referring to the deal as the “Abraham Accord.”

“The historic diplomatic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East region and is a testament to the bold diplomacy and vision of the three leaders and the courage of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential in the region. All three countries face many common challenges and will mutually benefit from today’s historic achievement,” the statement reads.

“Delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit,” it continued. “Opening ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economies will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation, and forging closer people-to-people relations.”

The joint statement credits President Trump, with thanks from both Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu and UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed for the diplomatic breakthrough, which was done at his request and outlined in the President’s “Vision for Peace.”

Notably, the agreement says Israel will relinquish its claims of sovereignty over the West Bank, which Israel’s neighbors have long called for.

“Today’s normalization agreement between Israel and the Emirates holds similar potential and the promise for a better day for the entire region. The United States congratulates Israel and the Emirates for their important achievement. Blessed are the peacemakers,” said US Secretary of State Pompeo in a statement.

President Trump promised reporters that other Muslim nations will be following UAE’s lead in achieving long-term peace in the region.
