Chinese President Xi makes an example out of billionaire businessman Jack Ma

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently flexed the power of the Communist state on China's most famous billionaire, Jack Ma. Ma, for his part, was a little presumptuous in his announcement of his intent to take his company public. This drew the ire of Xi, who then threw the full force of the regime behind an effort to kneecap Ma's plans.

On a recent edition of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra showed how the Chinese regime has treated their most famous billionaire, explaining how even a minor, perceived slight against the regime is simply not allowed:

If you said something mean about the dictator — or even just something presumptuous, which is what I think was going on here  well that's what matters. That's what counts in China. Don't let the dictator lose face.
