A recent B.C. Supreme Court ruling (Cowichan Tribes v. Canada) recognized Aboriginal title over private, fee-simple land in Richmond, B.C. for the first time. That’s created real uncertainty for homeowners, lenders, and tenants about mortgages, title, and who actually has authority over the land. This seems to flow from B.C.’s DRIPA law and federal UNDRIP implementation — even though those were never sold to ordinary Canadians as tools to downgrade private property — and cases like Haida Gwaii suggest this isn’t just a one-off.

Reconciliation can’t mean backroom deals, no notice to owners, and rule by people you can’t elect or remove.

Sign and share our petition calling on governments across Canada to:

  • Repeal or amend UNDRIP laws and policies that threaten private property rights.

  • End compelled land acknowledgements that undermine the sovereignty of our cities, provinces, and nation.

  • Pass new laws that protect private property and ensure equal rights and representation for all Canadians.

Because property rights are human rights — and without them, Canada itself is at risk.
