"Don't lie to me": Ezra Levant confronts Tim Hortons president over #BoycottTims
Ever since Tim Hortons insulted Canadian workers last week, their corporate executives have gone into hiding.
They ripped up an ad contract with a pipeline company called Enbridge — suggesting that Canadians who work in oil and gas aren't good enough for them. But then they wouldn’t defend their decision, or even explain it.
An apology? No chance. They went silent. Even as tens of thousands of their loyal customers asked, “why do you disrespect me?"
So I drove to the Tim Hortons head office in Oakville — armed with a petition signed by more than 8,500 Canadians demanding an apology from Tim Hortons.
At first, the executives refused to come down. They pretended they weren’t there.
Then they pretended they weren’t available.
Fine — I just sat and waited. And waited.
And when they realized I wasn’t going anywhere, the president of Tim Hortons Canada himself, David Clanachan, finally came down.
Watch what happened next -- and tell me what you think in the comments!

Prince Knight commented 2015-06-10 20:11:20 -0400Much ado… but won’t change anything. My biker buddies and I still hang out there. I still get the occasional decaf. Been no change at the drive through. Lots of noise here, no effect out there. -
Peter Babich commented 2015-06-10 19:55:02 -0400The ultimate irony is… People idle their cars in the drivethru -

liza faucher commented 2015-06-10 19:18:40 -0400Phyllup. Enbridge agreed to respect Tim Hortons decision, they in no way agreed to having their ad dropped before the expiry date, they just agreed to not make a fuss about it. Tim Hortons was deliberate in making a specific statement, which was anti Canadian oil sands, read the sumofus petition premise. These are the people timmy;s bowed to. It is a story about hypocrisy, and a notch in the belt of the anti’s, if it is ignored. It is bad for business, Canada’s business, to have these nazi environmental extremists bad mouthing our oil patch and get away with it. Tim Hortons (the hypocrites) gave them a platform in which to do it by bowing to them, and turfing Endbrige before their contract with them was up. -
Milan Novakovic commented 2015-06-10 19:05:43 -04001 left wing anti-Canadian foreign funded radical environmental group versus 10,000 PAYING irate Canadian Tim Horton’s customers. And TH gives in to the pressure group that has not spent a penny in their stores. Shell of a company – disgusting. -
Phillip rosencrentz commented 2015-06-10 18:54:16 -0400This is the perfect example of a lose- lose scenario! For any customers to complain about a specific ad is pretty scary to me. Tims did the right thing in discussing the situation with Enbridge, the nicest fossil fuel company around, and both agreeing to drop the ads, and then the oil customers taking offense. Ezra Levant reminded me of the Black pastor in the USA that seems to run towards the media . I don’t think this is much of a story. -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 18:42:21 -0400Dennis Rice said, "but Ezra Levant telling me not to go is reason enough to ensure I go more. "
To base your decision on doing the opposite of what someone else says is, to say the least, a foolish decision. -
Dennis Rice commented 2015-06-10 18:23:39 -0400I don’t generally go to Tim Hortons very often, but Ezra Levant telling me not to go is reason enough to ensure I go more. -
Lee Steinke commented 2015-06-10 17:48:14 -0400I rarely visit Tim Hortons in the first place, however I will never go there now. People are so silly lining up at the drive through at Tim’s, when McD’s is right next door with just as good or better coffee. -
Mark Van Laren commented 2015-06-10 17:35:47 -0400Have you guys talked with Enbridge about this? Lets hear what they have to say. -
liza faucher commented 2015-06-10 17:31:18 -0400Jeff Readman, I understand a lot of Canadians also hold Tim Hortons stock, and if you’re not an enviromaniac, it does explain the consternation of some here who don’t agree with Ezra’s calling Timmys out. Their stock holdings in several oil patch and related industries is something I would have thought they’d be proud of. It is indeed quite extensive. (spanning 3 pages)

What a bunch of hypocrites, bowing to a group of anti Canadian oil sheeple, by cutting out Enbridge ads, when their portfolio is Canadian resource fully loaded! I wonder if Margaret Atwood knew that before she signed that lame petition put up by the Sumofus community what ever that is.

The way I see it Tim Hortons has screwed themselves, if the left gets a load of their stock portfolio. This is getting hilarious. Jeff thanks for pointing that out. -
Edward Dongres commented 2015-06-10 17:22:37 -0400Well Jimmy Da Silva, your opinion is not an evidence. I’m sure you know that. Clearly Tim Horton’s prefer OPEC over our oil and that is fine in free county. Just like we are fee to ignore Tim Horton’s Brazilian coffee business. -
Lorne Osborne commented 2015-06-10 16:44:58 -0400Sorry that should be NOT HURTING as all the drive throughs were full. -
Lorne Osborne commented 2015-06-10 16:40:22 -0400I’m not so sure about the protests, but yesterday the Tim Hortons in Edmonton, Leduc, and Drayton Valley sure seem to be hurting from this goofy protest. Just wondering what’s next, protest Burger King for there advertisement for not having a Burger Queen? I happen to like Tim Horton’s coffee and will continue to buy there. -
Mary Auld commented 2015-06-10 16:39:00 -0400Good for you Ezra, stay right on them and hopefully Canadians will show some backbone and boycott this bunch of weak kneed twerps at Tim Hortons. I for one will not step foot in it till they stiffen their weak backbone and show some respect for their country and their customers. As for the Peter and Jimmy’s on this website….SHUT UP!! -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 16:15:54 -0400Okay, Jimmy. It is so obviously all over the Internet that reports of his lying is clogging up the internet, yet you cannot provide any and I am obviously a dunce for not know it.
That you Jimmy for your information. Bye, bye now. -
Jimmy Da Silva commented 2015-06-10 16:08:18 -0400Peter,
Ezra’s history of being unprofessional and lying is well documented – you KNOW this. It’s like you are asking me to prove that water is wet. Do you always ask people to prove something that you are already aware of.
Hell even Ezra’s lawyer had to admit the truth about him – Levant has a reputation as someone who is provocative, makes outlandish comments and can be a troublemaker – in defending Ezra’s lies. His lawyer is basically saying that Ezra shouldn’t be taken seriously – everyone knows that he is an attention whore, so he can’t possible be held accountable for his lying since people shouldn’t be believing him in the first place.
Sadly for Ezra, he has had to pay for his lying financially. And let’s not forget all the trouble he has gotten into with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council for broadcasting bullshit or just being simply unprofessional. -
Clayton Saunders commented 2015-06-10 15:25:23 -0400You did a great job Ezra. Keep up the good work. -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 15:22:34 -0400Jimmy Da Silva said, “How does Ezra’s ass smell in the morning?”
Yup! Childish insults to be expected from a troll.
If you want to childishly think that asking you for proof of your accusation that Ezra has lied as defending him (or brown nosing as your infantile mind imagines), then whatever, just provide your evidence. That’s all I am asking, Jimmy, that is all I am asking. Evidently, though, you are having difficulty providing it. -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:22:10 -0400I see that you are going to do the regular “look it up yourself” BS.
Do you truely believe that if someone sues you for something that what they are suing you for must be the truth? How naive. -
Jimmy Da Silva commented 2015-06-10 14:21:12 -0400Peter,
I never said that Ezra was a liar for poor research. He has already been proven a liar by the courts, etc. -
Jimmy Da Silva commented 2015-06-10 14:19:04 -0400Peter,
I am quite sure you are aware that Ezra has been sued more than once for lying and lost among other examples where he just makes shit up. Plenty of info on Google about the lying that Ezra has done and got in trouble for, but you know that already. -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:18:09 -0400" but that does make him a liar"
Was meant to be " but that does n*not* make him a liar, -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:16:55 -0400Now, provide your evidence of when he has lied.
-
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:15:55 -0400Jimmy, it is your assumption that because something may not have been researched well enough that it is automatically a lie, instead of it simply being a mistake.
There are plenty of times that Ezra has not researched something well enough, or when new evidence comes out that proves him wrong, but that does make him a liar, just simply mistaken.
And it is haters like you that automatically assume it is a lie.
That is what I am referring to. -
Jimmy Da Silva commented 2015-06-10 14:09:39 -0400Peter,
It’s not a matter of not liking – clearly Ezra and The Rebel didn’t research things and have been very unprofessional. Again, are they above criticism and attacks like they do against the CBC, The Star, etc? -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:08:24 -0400Then point out your evidence to where Ezra has lied rather that just stating it as if your saying so has such an earth shaking impact of fact that you do not need to qualify your statement.
-
Jimmy Da Silva commented 2015-06-10 14:05:13 -0400No Peter – it is stating the truth. People can be delusional, liars and attention whores in case you didn’t know. Ezra calls out people all the time in the same capacity – why is he above receiving the same thing? -
Peter Netterville commented 2015-06-10 14:03:12 -0400“Funny how Ezra’s crack team of journalists didn’t uncover that through research”
You don’t like what Ezra says or does, so insult him and his team, and the people that comment here. Yup! A troll, alright!
