Flatten the curve? What curve?
Two weeks to flatten the curve. Remember when that was the mantra espoused by the Canadian and provincial governments? As cases in Canada were topping more than 1,000 confirmed each day near the beginning of April, Justin Trudeau shared this touching video on Twitter:

At one point, some experts were even warning that, “Ontario would have seen 300,000 cases of COVID-19 and 6,000 deaths by the end of [April] if there was no government action or intervention.”
And yet the numbers really never came.
On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra discussed the two weeks to flatten the curve idea put forth by governments, and the extreme measures that were put in place across the country to prevent this supposed catastrophe.
The other day when I was researching virus deaths in Alberta, I learned that even at the maximum, the peak number of patients who were in intensive care units — ever, province wide — was 22. In the whole province. It never got higher than that.
Here's the latest stats [as of August 31]: literally seven people in the whole province in ICU. In a province of 4.5 million people, there's one single person in all of Calgary in intensive care. Calgary a city of 1.3 million people — theres one in ICU.
For Ezra, it seem as though COVID-19 is becoming the new climate change: the universal panic politicians use to control people. Why? Because as Ezra says:
People are actually scared [of COVID-19] in a way that no one really believed global warming stuff. No one actually believed all that. No one changed their lives as if they truly were worried about global warming. But people are panicking about COVID-19 which is no deadlier the annual flu.
So it's going to replace global warming as the excuse to do anything and everything: from new spending and new taxing, to new borrowing, to suspending your civil liberties.
Forget the green new deal, no one was ever really revved up about that. Forget Greta Thunberg's school strike. That was just a circus act.
But this? This pandemic? It's the big thing, it's going to be made permanent.
