Helicopter footage shows massive government operation at Universal Ostrich Farms

Emotions are running high as authorities prepare to cull the flock of nearly 400 healthy ostriches.

Editor's Note: Since filming, the ostriches have been granted a stay of execution by the Federal Court of Appeal. Follow the latest developments and support our work at SaveTheOstriches.com.

Rebel News journalists Sheila Gunn Reid and Drea Humphrey are on the ground in Edgewood, B.C. as authorities converge around Universal Ostrich Farms ahead of the expected cull.

The two journalists also got a bird's-eye view of the farm and its surroundings, noting the large presence of police vehicles and cull vehicles around the property.

Authorities have been seen gathering hay bales seemingly in an attempt to obstruct the public from viewing what's going on and to help contain the exotic birds.

Supporters of the ostriches and the farm are gathering to peacefully protest in an attempt to prevent the slaughter of the nearly 400 ostriches.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is trying to have the entire flock culled after two ostriches reportedly tested positive for the avian flu in December of 2024.

The ostriches' eggs have been used in groundbreaking research in Japan’s Kyoto Prefectural University. The story has created international news, with members of the Trump administration advocating for the ostriches to be saved.

Help Rebel News continue its reporting on the Ostrich massacre!

For months, our team has been on the ground at Universal Ostrich Farms, documenting every step of this tragedy — from the first ominous signs of federal overreach to the night nearly a thousand shots rang out, leaving a field of hundreds of dead ostriches and a family shattered.

Our journalists confronted the RCMP, pressed CFIA officials, launched drones to reveal the truth, and refused to be intimidated or silenced.

But holding powerful institutions to account takes resources: travel, security, legal access, and the manpower of an around-the-clock reporting team.

If you believe in independent journalism that asks the tough questions the establishment won’t touch, please chip in to help us keep digging.
