Tonight, Sheila Gunn Reid and Lise Merle are reacting to live results from Newfoundland and Labrador's provincial election.

While the Liberals have long held control of the provincial legislature, their support has declined over the years. Polls are projecting Premier John Hogan will retain a majority, with the Progressive Conservatives, led by Tony Wakeham, making gains but still falling short of toppling the Liberals.

    I’m way past gleeful that the Conservatives won! Liberal ideas aren’t centerist and haven’t been for a decade. I hope other provinces reject the hard-left ideology and people see how destructive it is. Time after time, I’ve seen how socialism ALWAYS destroys economies and confiscates rights from the people. They’re like robbers who take all your money and give you bus fair back so you can get home. People are slowly realizing what a scam that is.
