Make Hong Kong British Again? Pro-democracy protesters burn Chinese flag in Calgary
On Sunday protesters gathered in cities across Canada, including Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary to voice their support for the people of Hong Kong.
Protesters in Calgary met outside of the Chinese Consulate to sing Hong Kong protest classics like Do You Hear the People Sing, and Glory to Hong Kong. The crowed also squeezed in a rendition of God Save the Queen, as they raised signs saying “Make Hong Kong Great Britain Again”.
The protesters called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to do more to help the people of Hong Kong, and to stand up to face Chinese aggression head on.
According to one Calgarian, “there is no benefit” to dealing with China on an economic basis while their human rights abuses carry on.
