Hamilton police have confirmed the video showing alleged Afghan youths brandishing a knife and discharging spray from a moving vehicle in a Hamilton park was connected to a targeted, two-part attack โ and that one youth has already been arrested and charged, with police still searching for others involved.
In a news release published on Thursday, police said they are aware of the video circulating online showing youths in a vehicle driving through a Hamilton park and discharging bear spray, confirming it is tied to an active investigation into two targeted incidents that occurred on July 25, 2026, several weeks before the clip surfaced on social media.
This comes after Rebel News reached out to police for comment after the original posting of the video had accumulated nearly 750,000 views on X and thousands of likes and retweets and public outrage from concerned citizens.

According to police, the day began with an attack at a residence on Hamilton Mountain at approximately 9 a.m., where two people were sprayed with bear spray, with one sustaining minor injuries. Investigators say those victims were targeted because of their connection to the intended targets of the second attack.
That second incident is the one published to social media by the perpetrators: at roughly 4 p.m., officers responded toย Burkholder Park after receiving reports of a vehicle being driven through the park, with several youths observed inside. Police say the vehicle was driven toward the intended targets while bear spray was discharged from a window, and one occupant was observed waving a large knife outside the vehicle to onlookers.
No injuries were reported from that incident.
In the brazen video posted to social media, the youths can be seen driving through the park itself and young children with their families can be seen running away from the vehicle, which was moving at high speeds.
It appears they tried to run over a small child at the playground park. They were targeting other youths in the vicinity.

Police say they believe the two incidents are connected, and both were targeted โ a materially different picture than a random act of chaos in a public park, though no less alarming given the presence of families and children at the scene.
Officers identified the driver of the vehicle and made an arrest later that same day. The accused, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held for a bail hearing and is now facing seven charges:
- Dangerous Operation
- Disguise with Intent
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Administering a Noxious Thing with Intent to Endanger Life or Cause Bodily Harm
- Fail to Comply with Probation x2
Police also revealed that the vehicle used in the incidents had been reported stolen and has since been recovered and held for forensic examination.
In videos previously posted on the Instagram account where the shocking footage was first published, the unidentified assailants can be seen attacking others and proclaiming their Afghani heritage.
