CBC is more radical than the most anti-Canadian university

The average student at Concordia University is willing to call 9/11 an act of terrorism, albeit reluctantly, while the institution's elites refuse to go even that far.

I'm a Concordia student. I've sat in the classrooms, walked past the protest tables, and heard what gets said out loud on campus.

So, when a CBC memo surfaced telling staff "Do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks as terrorist attacks," signed by Basem Boshra, CBC News' Senior Director of Journalistic Standards and Public Trust, and a graduate of Concordia's Journalism program — I didn't have to go looking for the story. It was already at my school.

So, I took a camera to my own campus and asked students one question: was 9/11 a terrorist attack?

They all said terrorism. They argued about why — American foreign policy, Islamophobia — but not one of them dodged the word, even if their analysis afterwards was morally devoid. The students at the campus everyone calls radical wouldn't go where a CBC executive went.

Feature of the program, or a bug?

Fire Basem Boshra from the CBC for denying the 9/11 terrorist attack!

To Marie‑Philippe Bouchard, President and CEO of CBC/Radio‑Canada, and Brodie Fenlon, General Manager and Editor‑in‑Chief of CBC News: We, the undersigned, are outraged by reports that Basem Boshra — the CBC executive responsible for “Journalistic Standards and Public Trust” — ordered journalists not to describe the September 11 attacks as terrorist attacks. This is not neutrality: 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger aircraft and murdered 2,977 innocent people, including 24 Canadians, in a coordinated act of terrorism. CBC’s attribution policy cannot justify obscuring this settled historical fact. We demand that CBC immediately terminate Boshra, withdraw the directive, release the complete memo, disclose who approved it, and apologize publicly to the victims’ families. If the quotation is inaccurate, release the memo and prove it; if it is accurate, act now.

This doesn’t seem to be a good comparison. CBC, as far as I’m aware, isn’t calling for full-out communism like some useful campus idiots do. But it sure is odd how these students nailed it about 9/11.
