On Tuesday's live stream, Rebel News' Lise Merle recounted her interaction with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre ahead of the Saskatchewan Roughriders game on the weekend, where she managed to get him on the record about men in women's prisons.

Filmed by her 11-year-old daughter, the brief exchange saw Poilievre respond bluntly when Lise asked, "No men in women's prisons. How come?" He answered that men are men, women are women, and men do not belong in women's prisons, shelters, bathrooms, change rooms, or pools.

“Men are men, women are women,” he told Lise. “No men in women's spaces, period,” Poilievre declared. “Very simple.”

Lise said she raised the question after a federal court case brought by a group of women revealed some female inmates had been sexually assaulted in women's prisons by trans-identified inmates.

Poilievre did not go so far as to say trans women are men when asked directly, but he told Lise he believes he addressed the issue during the federal election campaign, though largely in interviews with what he called a hostile and aggressive mainstream media rather than in public forums.

Lise said she hopes Poilievre brings the concerns he's heard from Saskatchewan residents back to Ottawa, adding that she looks forward to raising the issue with him again.
