'Psyop' trying to divide Christians and Jews

Mass numbers of accounts “harmonized” around a story of the Latin Patriarch being banned from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. But the reality was much different, and an effort to divide Christians and Jews is underway, says Ezra Levant.

The recent controversy drummed up by the media surrounding the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem being denied access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is an effort to divide Christians and Jews, said Ezra Levant on Monday's edition of The Ezra Levant Show.

The story gained ground when it was reported that Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, was blocked from entering the historic church for Palm Sunday services.

Stories of “how the Jewish state was mistreating Christians, and especially Christian holy sites” circulated online and were then “weaponized in a way to make it look like anti-Christian discrimination,” Ezra said.

In reality, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, much like other religious sites in Old Jerusalem, were under restrictions due to the ongoing conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran.

“Iran has been firing missiles at Jerusalem for weeks,” Ezra said, explaining why the restrictions are in place. Despite the prevalence of bomb shelters in Israel, mass gatherings make the prompt evacuation to shelters “impossible.”

Mass numbers of accounts online then “harmonized” around the idea that Israel was somehow targeting Christians, Ezra continued, “and of course, that made politicians want to jump in front of the parade and lead the march — and it's very fun and easy to take a shot at Israel these days.”

Prime Minister Mark Carney made no remarks about Iran firing missiles at Jerusalem, Ezra noted, but he did comment on the Latin Patriarch story.

In a matter of hours after the incident was reported, Ezra pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “personally intervened,” permitting the priest to hold ceremonies at his own risk.

“The temporary delay in getting him to his church created a massive international incident, a scandal, magnified by literally more than 100,000 social media bots,” he said.

Showing images of Carinal Pizzaballa alongside police, “the reality is much different,” Ezra stated, noting the ceremonies would go ahead but would be “scaled down” due to the war, just like at the most prominent Jewish holy site.

“There's a campaign now to drive a wedge between Christians and Jews, to demoralize the West and delink the West from Israel, the sole democracy in the Middle East, to undermine our ability to stand up to military and terroristic entities, especially from Islam.”

The divisive efforts are an “information operation,” detailed Ezra, citing comments from Tucker Carlson, who now owns a home in Qatar. The former Fox News host has “completely changed 180-degrees” since leaving the network, wondering if a religious or financial incentive was motivating the broadcaster.

“Christians thrive in Israel,” Ezra said, highlighting their right to vote, sit in Israel's parliament, the Knesset, or on the country's supreme court.

“It's a psyop,” Ezra said, shifting focus to another prominent former Christian holy site, the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, which was converted to a mosque following the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in the 15th century.

“It was conquered by Islamic jihad,” he said of the famous city. “The Ottoman Turks, they desecrated the church; they defiled it. Thousands of men were murdered and women were raped, including of the altar of the church.”

Unlike in Israel, where religious sites are open to the public to visit, Christians are banned from praying at the Hagia Sophia.

“I'm all for standing for Christians,” Ezra said.

“Not just keffiyeh-wearing priests who were delayed a few hours for public safety; but also, the thousands of Christians around the world killed in places like Nigeria and Egypt and Iraq; those who were killed in Turkey and the Ottoman Empire centuries ago; and those who are struggling to be free in China and elsewhere.”
