Trudeau will skip out on Calgary Stampede: report
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be skipping out on the Calgary Stampede this year, an email from the Prime Minister's Office said.
Politico's "Ottawa Playbook" reports: "His schedule may change, but Playbook got its eyes on an email from the Prime Minister's Office that confirms Trudeau will not be attending the annual schmoozefest and celebration of western culture. Asked by Playbook, the PMO didn't confirm a decision had been made."
The possible decision to skip the Stampede comes after a humiliating loss for the Liberals in the Toronto-St. Paul's byelection which saw a Liberal safe-seat in the heart of Toronto turn blue.

It also comes amid a critical situation where the city is dealing with low water supply.
"A feedermain break along 16 Avenue NW has impacted the city's water supply. Supply levels remain in a critical state, affecting the city's ability to provide water to communities and ensure adequate water is available to support emergency fire suppression," a release from the Alberta government reads from Monday.
Playbook notes that the Stampede, typically a "schmoozefest" of an event that features pancakes and parties, is usually a no-brainer for politicians looking to get out in the public eye to attend.
Trudeau has not tried to hide himself since the loss of the Toronto-St. Paul's riding, but has been more reluctant to take questions.

"Fresh off a happy-warrior caravan tour of Quebec, PIERRE POILIEVRE will be all over Calgary," reads the Playbook's report.
"On Friday, the Tory leader has a 1:30 p.m. date with donors at the Southern Alberta Pioneers Building. He'll head south of town for an evening fundraiser at Sirocco Golf Club," it continues.
"Buoyant crowds are sure to meet their party leader," the report says.
"On Saturday morning, Poilievre will likely join a pile of CPC MPs at JASRAJ SINGH HALLAN's pancake breakfast at Marlborough Mall. The Tory leader caps the day with a massive BBQ at Heritage Park."
