War on fun! Firefighter charity calendar axed after complaint

Too hot to handle! Alas, the War on Fun has claimed yet another victim: the Firemen of St. Catharines, Ont.

Until this year, some of these firemen would pose topless for a calendar that, to date, has raised more than $18,000 for a mental health charity. But now local authorities say the firemen have to cover up (burqas or niqabs, anyone?) or not wear their uniforms for the photo shoot. Evidently municipal resources cannot be used for the publication of photos depicting bare-chested men, because – mercy me! – somebody might get offended by semi-barenaked first responders.

Yet, how odd: the calendar has been published for several years without issue. And the proceeds go to a good cause. But as it turns out, the City of St. Catharines received one complaint – that’s right, folks, ONE complaint – and so it is that this book of beefcake is no more… because, well, that’s the way we role in this day and age of Cancel Culture.
