Two gunmen, identified as a father and son, targeted a crowded Hanukkah celebration 'Chanukah by the Sea' organized by Chabad of Bondi in Archer Park. As families gathered to light the first candle of the Jewish festival of lights, the attackers opened fire from a nearby bridge, killing at least 15 people, including children as young as 10, and injuring over 40 others in what authorities declared a targeted antisemitic act of terrorism.

It has been condemned it as "pure evil" and an assault on Jewish Australians, while global leaders expressed outrage and solidarity. Yet despite months of dire warnings, roundtable talks, and empty gestures, leaders failed to prevent the inevitable. Enough with hollow words and box-ticking. Australia's Jewish community deserves real protection. The time for words is over, we need our leaders to act now ... before any more blood is spilled.
