Trudeau wants to ban plastic — hasn't COVID-19 proven plastic is valuable?
On a recent edition of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra discussed a favourite boogeyman of Canada's Liberal government: plastic. Yes, the Liberal Party, particularly Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, really wants to see plastic banned in Canada.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic consumed the worlds attention, the Trudeau government had announced it was looking at a ban on single-use plastics by 2021. Trudeau, at the time, said:
We need to cover all of Canada with this decision and that's why the federal government is moving forward on a science-based approach to establishing which harmful single-use plastics we will be eliminating as of 2021
But as Ezra points out, just consider the last six months:
Put aside the exaggeration of the pandemics risks. The solutions are all plastic-based. Whether it's masks, or visors or hazmat suits.
Grocery stores banned those gross, reusable bags — you know, those ones made out of cloth or whatever — because the thing about plastic is, it's so clean, it's non porous, it's watertight, airtight and it's cheap enough that you can make countless plastic bags much cheaper than a reusable bag that collects all sorts of bacteria in it.
Viruses, frankly, [are] the least of your concerns.
To help the business community fight back against this plastic ban, you can sign the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers & Businesses Of Canada petition.
