Danny Tommo arrested after confronting migrant boat in the English Channel

Danny Tommo has been arrested in England after cutting a migrant dinghy in the English Channel. Now Rebel News is helping secure a criminal lawyer as he faces allegations that could carry a life sentence.

Danny Tommo was arrested tonight in England. He is the man who has spent this summer on the beaches, docks and waters of the south coast trying to stop the small illegal boats. He has been Tommy Robinson’s key ally for years. Robinson posted the news as it landed.

On Tuesday afternoon, Tommo was in a speedboat in the English Channel, livestreaming. A migrant dinghy had just crossed from France after 33 hours at sea with about 50 people aboard, shadowed the whole way by the French coastguard. It appears the migrants had been taken off by a French rescue boat and two RNLI lifeboats and transferred onto a Border Force cutter. A French rescue worker was still on the dinghy. Tommo leaned over with a knife and cut it.

The footage is public. It does not need a second-hand description.

Police say the arrest is for criminal damage and recklessly endangering life. The second allegation can carry up to life in prison in the United Kingdom. That is serious.

Tommo asked Rebel News for help through Robinson. He asked because of what happened with Robinson last year. When the state charged Robinson over the St Pancras train station attack, supporters crowdfunded his lawyers and the charges were dropped. Robinson later beat a Terrorism Act charge outright.

A senior criminal lawyer in London has been contacted tonight. It is past midnight there. Work is going on through the night.

Every one of the 50-odd people on that dinghy is going to get a lawyer. A British taxpayer-funded lawyer, through legal aid, to argue their asylum claim. They will get a hotel room, three meals, a phone and a lawyer. The people smugglers who sold them the boat get lawyers. The French rescue crew that escorted them into British waters is not being arrested. The one man who tried to stop the boat gets the cell.

A left-wing account posted the clip and called him out of control and in need of arrest. The post was seen 4.7 million times. Twenty-four hours later, police obliged.

Nobody has to agree with everything Tommo did on Tuesday to know this: in a free country, a man accused of a crime gets a lawyer. That is not a favour. That is the point of the system. Every criminal migrant gets a lawyer. A man fighting for his country deserves a lawyer too.

There is no cost estimate yet. There was not one for Robinson either. It depends on how badly the state wants to go after him. With Robinson, the answer turned out to be very badly. The lawyer’s name and the first court date will be published the moment they are confirmed.

The press will call Tommo a thug, dig up his past and say he does not deserve help. The question is not whether he is a saint. It is whether the same police who cannot stop a single boat can find the time to lock up the one man who tried.
