On Monday's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, independent journalist Terence Shen reacted to citizen-filmed footage of a man wearing a People's Republic of China lapel pin confronting a Falun Gong practitioner outside the Chinese consulate in Toronto.

The video shows the man, speaking Chinese, tearing down the woman's posters and banners, telling her she is standing on "Chinese soil" and accusing her of breaking China's anti-secession law. He allegedly states that he could 'kill her' if they were in China before leaving with some of her materials.

Shen, who spoke with the protesters, told Ezra the demonstrators have stood outside the consulate for years and have faced harassment before, but nothing this aggressive. Rather than kicking a sign and running off, the man seemingly tried to destroy everything in reach and made threats to her face.

Shen said a second man filmed the encounter, which he believes was meant as proof for whoever directed the confrontation. He described the incident as a signal to the Chinese diaspora that criticism of Beijing carries consequences, even in Canada, and said the behaviour has escalated because no one has ever been charged.

Toronto police are reportedly seeking the suspect. The Chinese consulate told Rebel News the man has no connection to it and objected to what it called false accusations. Shen dismissed the denial, pointing to Beijing's record of denying espionage cases later proven in court.

In response, Rebel News launched CowardsAndBullies.com and parked its billboard truck across from the consulate, displaying messages in English and Chinese asking the public to help identify the man. Shen said the consulate would never dare confront Canadian media the way it targets elderly practitioners.
