"Don't lie to me": Ezra Levant confronts Tim Hortons president over #BoycottTims

Ever since Tim Hortons insulted Canadian workers last week, their corporate executives have gone into hiding.

They ripped up an ad contract with a pipeline company called Enbridge — suggesting that Canadians who work in oil and gas aren't good enough for them. But then they wouldn’t defend their decision, or even explain it.

An apology? No chance. They went silent. Even as tens of thousands of their loyal customers asked, “why do you disrespect me?"

So I drove to the Tim Hortons head office in Oakville — armed with a petition signed by more than 8,500 Canadians demanding an apology from Tim Hortons.

At first, the executives refused to come down. They pretended they weren’t there.

Then they pretended they weren’t available.

Fine — I just sat and waited. And waited.

And when they realized I wasn’t going anywhere, the president of Tim Hortons Canada himself, David Clanachan, finally came down.

Watch what happened next -- and tell me what you think in the comments!

Boycott Tim Hortons!

17,712 signatures
Goal: 25,000 signatures

They told the government they can’t find workers — but Canadian kids can’t find jobs!

In a lobbying letter to Immigration Minister Marc Miller, Tim Hortons admitted its business would “struggle immensely” without international workers, while pushing to raise foreign worker caps, expand international student work hours, and create a permanent pipeline of labour — all for the very entry-level jobs that once helped young Canadians build skills, earn their first paycheque, and start their futures.

At a time when youth unemployment is rising and opportunities are shrinking, Tim Hortons is replacing local workers and lowering their standards.

If a company won’t hire Canadians and instead lobbies to replace them, Canadians can and must respond.

SIGN THE PLEDGE:

"I pledge to boycott Tim Hortons — no coffee, no breakfast — until Tim Hortons commits to hiring Canadians and investing in our next generation."

Will you sign?

The real disappointment is in the anemic response by what passes for Albertans these days. We have been diluted by too many Upper Canadians. Alberta as we knew it is gone.

And like I said before – this is already over. No one cares. The boycott that lasted a few days has died. Back to normal for Tim Hortons.

Being a retired energy industry employee I’m pretty sensitive to this stuff. Good work Ezra. I’m boycotting the Brazilian owned tim’s forever now. The attitude of the coo dave clanahgan only made matters worse. To hell with them.

Not in a million years would Ron Joyce’s Tim’s disrespect Canadian workers the way these clowns did. Sad performance Tim’s. Good work Ezra.

    Liza,

LOL at your view of Ezra Levant. The guy is the media equivalent of an ambulance chaser. He is an attention whore who looks for controversy in everything and if there isn’t any controversy, he will happily manufacture it regardless of the facts and has no problem lying as long as he gets the attention that he so craves.

Ezra doesn’t pretend to be perfect, and when he makes a mistake he apologises. That makes him a better man in my book. Ezra goes out on a limb, places the rest of us are too cowardly to venture into, certainly not the mainstream media, so occasionally he may get himself in trouble. Understandably. He is still more of a patriot than any of the rest of us for going there, (for us). He puts the main stream media to shame.

It’s 2015. Why don’t you accept html tags, for goodness sakes? Or at least put a notice here about no html tags, and what markup rules you do accept.

SERIOUSLY, REBEL MEDIA, DOES THAT NOT MAKE SENSE?

Now Erza I know im just a dumb NFLD from the east . But two things came to mind when this story broke . Tim H needs . to look at themselves before blindly attack Enbridge Can you imagine if Tims drive threws where closed went drive threw free no more long lines of idiling cars you have got to go in to get your coffee. Second all those pilipa workers that work out west in their stores because of the oil and gas sector bet they didn’t think of that. Its what happens when you are baseing your decision on emontion first before the facts are in. It what they do

Ezra Levant has some blame for this.

I bet some South American suit bitterly remembers : “Chinga tu Madre” And has NO COMPUNCTION of turning this political. Same goes for OPEC flooding the market. I can picture some Saudi suit who remembers ‘Sharia Oil’ or ‘ethical oil’ and he has NO COMPUNCTIONS in making this political.

Good job applying Canadian decency to South America… Keep poking that bear Ezra… Learn the hard way how little influence friendly Canada actually has in a barbaric and savage world…

Counting down they days to retirement, so I don’t have to support all these damn koolaid drinkers I mean TH coffee drinkers. Because if you let this one slide by without a fight what’s the next business that these enviro-nazis attack, slowly whittling away our way of life and yes sovereignty. Some of you remind me of those people standing on the rooftops welcoming the aliens before they vaporize you. This to some of you may seem small potatoes but you pull on a small thread and who knows how far it will unravel.

@ Peter N…you said “To base your decision on doing the opposite of what someone else says is, to say the least, a foolish decision.” great unintended rebuttal to Lauren Southern’s comment that she says: “I’m trying to go against everything I’ve been taught” …I agree with you!

I have already told you , it is because it is bad for Canadian business to let enviro activists have their uninformed way with us. It wouldn’t have been good business practice for Enbridge to make a fuss, they are very cognisant of public opinion and the slander they receive. I’m not sure it would have been a bad idea though. People would have had to look at the portfolio of resource stocks Timmy holds from Canadian oil patch related companies. Something the left doesn’t want to admit. No one wants to look at that fact for what it is. How much timmys stock do you own Jimmy? or are you just a "back to the garden " kind of guy.

    Liza,

Well if Enbridge has no interest in making a fuss – why are you making a fuss? I am sure they have more of a reason to be angry compared to you.
