Smith shuts the door, Rath targets her job, Nenshi's immigrant jab? | Buffalo Roundtable
Alberta stays in Canada, but the fight over the UCP, the immigration mandate and BC's dead heat is just getting started.
Live Wednesday, October 21 at 1pm ET / 11am MT
Show Notes
Rebel News' Sheila Gunn Reid and Lise Merle host The Buffalo, A Western Voice, with special guest Martin Belanger (Marty Up North).
Premier Danielle Smith told Albertans there will be "not another referendum on separation" while she's premier, after 76 per cent voted to remain and the other nine questions passed, including immigration powers and proof of citizenship to vote. Now Jeffrey Rath is gunning for her job, claiming Smith bought the Wexit contact list in 2022 and pushing a leadership challenge before the November UCP AGM. Cory Morgan says Rath's secret Washington meetings "shatter the trust."
Will Ottawa respect Alberta's mandate? Naheed Nenshi scoffs, "What is an Alberta-approved immigrant? That is not a thing that exists," Pierre Poilievre dodges the question as Mark Carney stays silent, and Quebec's Eric Duhaime rallies support for Alberta autonomy.
Beyond Alberta, BC votes Saturday with Angus Reid showing the Conservatives at 46 per cent and the NDP at 43, as David Eby apologizes for linking the deaths of four PPCLI soldiers in the Wainwright training fire to the Conservatives. Plus, Manitoba's Wab Kinew wants the world to tax Elon Musk's wealth, news from Saskatchewan, and candidates walking off stage at a fiery North Bay mayoral debate.
